USPS email scam: is that delivery notice real?
Editorially reviewed · Last updated June 16, 2026
Yes — this is a scam. USPS doesn't email you to collect a fee, and it never sends from "usps-trackingsupport.info."
Other versions you might get: A text version about a "held package," a fake "customs fee" for an international parcel, or a tracking link that asks you to log in or re-enter your card.
What to do right now
- Don't click the link or pay the fee. No real carrier collects a redelivery fee by email.
- Check it yourself — go to usps.com or the USPS app, type your tracking number, and look. There's no fee owed.
- Report it. Forward to spam@uspis.gov, then file at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- Delete it and mark it as phishing.
- If you already paid or entered your card, call your bank now to freeze the card and dispute the charge, then watch your statement for more.
How to make sure it never bites you
These land because your email address is on breached and resold lists, and the scam works best when you're genuinely waiting on a parcel. Reduce the blast radius — see how to lock down your accounts.
Help protect someone else
Scams spread because people stay quiet about them. If this could have fooled you, it can fool someone you know — a parent, a friend, the family group chat. Passing it on is the easiest good thing you'll do today. It's safe to forward, and stands on its own as a record for a bank or the police.
